🛍️ How to Get Cash Back When Shopping (Without Doing the Absolute Most!)
✨ Introduction
If there’s one thing every working woman loves, it’s getting what she needs without feeling like her wallet is waving a white flag. 😂💸 At least I think we all love that. Because one thing I’m gonna do is shop around for a deal.
And thankfully, we’re living in a time where you can shop smart, save coins, and even earn money back just for buying what you were already going to buy.
If you’ve ever wondered how people brag about saving hundreds (sometimes thousands!) a year just by “shopping smart”… sis, today is your day.
I’m breaking down the exact cashback apps and websites I use every week — Rakuten, Upside, MileagePlus Shopping, and Capital One Shopping — and how they help me shop wisely without emptying my pockets.
Get comfy. Grab your iced coffee. Let’s save some money. 💁🏾♀️✨
💡 What Is Cash Back & Why It Works
Cash back is simple:
You shop → the app tracks your purchase → you get a percentage of your money back.
It’s basically adult allowance… except you earn it by being responsible. 😌LOL, you know responsibly spending.
Cashback tools partner with stores, restaurants, gas stations, and brands to get you the best deal possible. It’s one of the easiest ways to stretch your money without cutting out the things you enjoy.
💖 The Apps & Sites I Personally Use (and Why I Love Them)
🌸 1. Rakuten — “My Not-So-Secret Weapon”
Best for: Online shopping, holiday shopping, everyday purchases
Why I use it:
Rakuten feels like the fairy godmother of cashback. You shop at your favorite stores — Macy’s, Sephora, Walmart, Nike, Ulta, pretty much everybody — and Rakuten gives you money back.
🛍️ The best part:
They have rotating “Double Cash Back” stores that can jump from 2% to 10% or even 20% during big sales. Also, coupons, HELLOOOOOO!
💰 My fave feature:
The Chrome extension pops up automatically to activate cashback so you never miss a deal. You can also shop from the app.
⛽️ 2. Upside — “The Gas Station Money Saver”
Best for: Gas, groceries, and convenience stores
Why I use it:
Gas is basically legal robbery these days. Upside softens the blow by giving you cash back every time you fill up at a listed gas station. But I love getting cashback from a food stop.
I’ve earned money back on gas, restaurant stops, and even little convenience store runs.
🔥 What I love:
Upside tells you what near you is offering the highest cash back — so you can pick the best deal without driving all over creation. Just open the app and choose what you are looking for. It pulls up what’s close by for you.
✈️ 3. MileagePlus Shopping — “The Travel Girlie Must-Have”
Best for: Earning miles while shopping
Why I use it:
If you’re a travel-lover like me (hello, I stay on somebody’s cruise ship), MileagePlus Shopping is a whole hack. I am an avid United Airlines flier. So being able to use their shopping site to get miles is a win win.
Every purchase earns you United miles, which means:
• cheaper flights
• free flights
• flight upgrades
• lounge access if you save enough
🥳 Even better:
Most of your favorite stores that you are already shopping at are attached to Mileageplus shopping.
Side note: Loyalty programs pay. Most airlines have a shopping site for you to earn miles. With a little research, you could be stacking miles from everyday purchases with your favorite airlines.
💳 4. Capital One Shopping — “The Auto Coupon Finder”
Best for: Finding promo codes, price comparison, earning credits
Why I use it:
Capital One Shopping’s browser extension automatically checks for coupon codes and finds better prices across the internet. It’s like your own personal assistant checking on pricing for you.
🎁 Bonus:
You earn credits you can redeem for gift cards — Macys, Sephora, hotels, and more.
Sometimes the coupon savings alone beat the cashback apps…and I am never mad about that. 😌Nothing like being on Amazon and a small screen pops up to say this item is $15 less over at this site. Tell me more.
🧠 How I Use All These Together
No, you can’t stack these, but you can see which one will give you the best bang for your buck. I do it unapologetically. 😎✨
Here’s my strategy:
- Install the Rakuten and Capital One Shopping browser extensions.
They’ll pop up automatically when you’re eligible for savings. They will tell you what percentage you can get back or how much you can save. Just make sure you click to get your savings. I don’t want to tell you how many times I didn’t click and still made a purchase that wasn’t eligible forc ashback. - Use MileagePlus Shopping for travel.
More miles = more trips. I use this when I’m making large purchases because more points equal cheaper flights. And at the costs of flights these days, every bit counts. - Use Upside anytime I’m outside.
Because outside is expensive. And Upside has you covered from gas to McDonald’s. And let me just say I’ve been missing out because I just learned the grocery store I’m always at is on there. I’m hurt, but oooh, I will be getting that coinage from now on. - Check holiday + seasonal promos.
Black Friday, Labor Day, Back-to-School, and Prime Day hit different with these apps. Please note that these apps are not offering discounts on Amazon, but they will show you where to get it for less than the Amazon price. Especially Capital One Shopping. Shhhh!
You are now on your way to saving money and stacking points.
💸 Why Every Working Woman Should Be Using Cash Back Apps
These tools make life easier for anyone trying to:
✔️ save money
✔️ shop responsibly
✔️ stretch their paycheck
✔️ enjoy the lifestyle they want without stressing
We’re talking real savings — like money you can put toward travel, bills, groceries, or your fun fund.
And sis, if the apps are offering the money… take the money. 😂👏
📝 Final Thoughts
Cashback shopping is one of the easiest, least stressful ways to shop smart and keep your coins where they belong — with you.
You don’t have to change your lifestyle.
You don’t have to stop shopping.
Just shop differently.
Once you start using these apps consistently, you’ll wonder why you ever shopped without them. 💁🏾♀️💗
